Afraid to sleep – Dido Final version
Things I did : – I walk to the beat in the beginning, the moment my foot hits the stairs the music really starts. – With the introduction of the instruments I introduce the problem of tossing and turning. – That picture in the frame when I pour the wine is a picture that kills me, it was my favorite picture of Von and I. – We really did sleep in that room together. – I really have woke up and looked at the body pillow like that, some dreams feel more real than others. – Although in some shots you see another camera it was just on the endtable, I only used one as the other sucks. – Blades of grass are in a shot but they are to show that lif egoes on around her even though she feels dead inside. – I fall down the stairs,(k not litterally) I don’t just walk, I fall fast. – Introduced to extreme dark with “There” “I dreamnt last night and you were there” – This one is obvious “You kissed my face” my hand goes to my face, obviously remembering kisses that are now replaced with teardrops. – Introduce tossing and turning, it is plenty because it is the main issue, walking is not an issue it is a temporary fix to sleepless nights. Tossing and turning is suffering and this song is about suffering. – “dream of you” causes me to throw myself over not just roll over, it’s frusterating when all you can do is think of a person who doesn’t love you. – “Pillow where I weep” – obvious – “in the darkness” dragging my hands down my face and closing my eyes. – Decides on suicide vs reality and dreamland to the beat of the music I arise. – There is a flash between getting the paper and writing the letter, this is not an accident this is unpurpose, it is to mean a few things. The moment her spirit dies, and the speed at which she makes this decision. – The clip of looking back is my favorite clip but a hidden story behind it is the fact that I am actually looking in the direction that Von and I used to live. – I like to close all my poems, etc with the scene I opened so we return to where I once climbed the stairs and this time I tumble to the bottom. Symbolism is in the fact that at one point I had climbed to the top and now I willingly tumble down to rock bottom. – I appologize to advil, they do not promote suicide. – Flashing point with the wine is also not an accident, dido’s song goes very fast from music to no music and I wanted to grab that with the video. – Ends on “sleep” with a still frame of her dead. shoots to suicide note and that is pretty much the end. Obviously I bolded “Please understand, I’m sorry, It just hurts, I’m afraid to sleep and I’ll always love you. But if you care to read the whole note and don’t wish to pause it is like this: Please understand, I just can’t do it anymore. I’m sorry every morning hurts more than the last. It just hurts so much. Please forgive me. I keep dreaming of you so much that I can’t handle it. I’m afraid to sleep. I’ll alwaywas love you. And if you are wondering yes these lines were used by me before. that is all, please comment.
I think she’s done loads of good stuff with Faithless and Rolo that completely slip through.

I liked it, and enjoyed it to the song.
However, there are a couple things I’d just comment on.
Some of it is quite literal, but I like the fact you have then balanced that with symbolism, it helps with the feel of things.
The tossing and turning is good, however, it does go on too long and you do wonder when it’s going to stop. Maybe having other shots of you tired elsewhere, or a bed with ruffled covers and someone sitting sleepless in the corner?

Bit of an irritating video to what is an amazing song. Seems like you’re having some kind of fit with the shots with you in the bed. Also i’ve never understood with people’s home made videos why lyrics have to be taken so literally ‘Its so quiet i turn the TV on…’ Great lot of thinking wen into that part!
Though i have to say the shots of you walking when it’s dark are brilliant, especially the ones towards the end of the video.
